Cottage Designs – Pahrump didn’t begin with a big business plan, a fancy storefront, or a dream of becoming a skincare company. It started with something much simpler… a mom, a daughter, a pair of hardworking hands, and the hope that we could make something better.

My mom, Lori, is a Union Pipefitter and Welder with Local 525. Years of hard work, welding gloves, heat, dirt, and dry conditions left her hands cracked, painful, and sometimes bleeding. We started researching more natural ways to care for her skin, and that’s when we discovered tallow.

With the help of a local butcher who saved raw suet for us, we began learning how to render it ourselves—slowly, carefully, and right at home. There was a lot of trial and error, a lot of “well… that didn’t work,” and probably a few moments when we questioned what in the world we were doing. But then something amazing happened…

It helped.

And that one little beginning grew.

We started creating whipped tallow skincare, soaps, sugar scrubs, lip balms, pet products, gift boxes, and more. We began experimenting with ingredients, scents, seasonal inspiration, and recipes made with care. And somewhere along the way, this became more than a business.

It became our dream.

Today, Cottage Designs – Pahrump is still a small, family-owned business. We still make our products with our own hands. We still get excited over new ideas. We still make mistakes, learn, laugh, change things, and occasionally drive my husband crazy when I say, “Hey baby…” because he already knows I have another idea.

We are inspired by nature, by the seasons, by our family, by our animals, by our garden, and by the people who choose to support a small business like ours.
